Adepticon 2011
Have you signed up for Adepticon yet? Because I have. AdeptiCon 2011 will take place on April 1st through the 3rd at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center in Lombard, IL. I will be playing in Friday's 3000 point 'Ard Boyz style Big Brawl, as well as the Saturday 4-game 2200 point Warhammer Championships. I am very interested in both tournaments, because last year there were huge comp restrictions, and this year with the new edition there are almost none. I will be playing Skaven in both tournaments. I have already slowly started my High Elves, but I don't know if I will have a completed and competitive army before next April.
I am also hoping to put together a team for Sunday's Warhammer Team Tournament as well to keep me busy all weekend, but if not I may look into some modeling and painting workshops. This will be my first Adepticon ever after having to cancel plans last year.
If any other Skaven players are interested in teaming up for the Tournament, let me know.

I am definitely going to Adepticon, but am very cautious about signing up for anything until the actual rules are posted. After my disappointment with the WPS composition last year and some of the dumb painting score questions, I am very leery of Adepticon.
ReplyDeleteThere is no composition restrictions for the 2 WFB tournaments I am signed up for. The rules posted are the rules being used, it's basically straight from the book with no special characters (and no dogs of war / rhinox riders). I already asked the WFB Event organizer and he confirmed. The only event not finalized is the Team Tournament, which he said would be comped in some way.
ReplyDeleteI was having problems downloading the rules pack. They seem to be working fine now.
ReplyDeleteThe championship looks OK, I am not crazy that the 'style' points are worth as much as a draw, but regardless I will be going to that, now just to find out what days our group will be going up for.
Hopefully I see you guys, I got robbed of my chance to get a game in vs one of your two Dark Elf friends.
ReplyDeleteI know that Adam (2nd place) will be there. Mike (1st place) probably will. Mike skipped last year because of the WPS stupidity.
ReplyDeleteI do want to question your idea of running Skaven in the Team tourney though. The BRB rules for Skaven and Dark Elves in teams are pretty harsh. It seems you will get little advantage to having either one of those armies on your team.
Hopefully it would be balanced out by Skaven and Dark Elves being two of the more powerful armies out there (see 'Ard Boyz results), combined with the fact that I only have a fully painted Skaven army! :)
ReplyDeleteI have the start of a High Elf army that could probably be finished by then, but the Skaven are my true love of Warhammer. We will see, maybe I will have to go with the High Elves. At least I wouldn't have to paint too much to get to 1000 points.
I am in the same boat. Skaven are my first love and only painted army. Both of my previous team tourney experiences at Adepticon were Skaven and Dark Elves. With the BRB book though, I am not sure that is as good of a combo.
ReplyDeleteNot that it worked out all that good before. :)
