So here we go. I picked up a new Hell Pit Abomination kit at my own tournament in January, and I decided I wanted to use THAT model at Adepticon. So last night I painted it. Here are some of the WIP and final shots. It is heavy on the wash, but the majority of my army is. That is the way I like my Skaven!

Screaming Bell completed
I worked all night to finish my Screaming Bell. 2 Monster Energy Drinks and 1 5-Hour Energy later (and a few hours of sleep) and I have some finished pictures! I was planning on doing WIP shots as I completed pieces, but my internet was totally crapping out on me yesterday. I'm glad to get these up.
I really like the look of it. I also made sure to differ his paint scheme slightly from my Plague Furnace, to really distinguish each of them on the battlefield. I think I'll be using one of each for a while in my upcoming games. After painting them, how can I not!
Now I just cannot wait for the new Island of Blood boxed set. The pictures floating around the internet show that the Clan Rats look almost identical to the regiment boxed set. It should be easy to make a couple large units and add to what I already have pushing the Bell. BTW, the Rat Ogres look amazing!

The Vermin Lord couldn't wait for 8th Edition!
While anxiously awaiting my 8th edition rule book, that has already arrived at my local store but I can't pick up until 12:01am Saturday, I finally gave up reading blogs and started painting. So tonight I sat down and finished painting my Vermin Lord after reading some 8th Edition Skaven opinions. I decided I wanted to try him out this weekend if I can get someone to play 2500 points.

Skaven Warlord
I finished my Warlord, after posting his war-litter mount last post. I believe I will keep him based and have the war-litter as an option. I don't think he stands too high while riding it.

Poisoned Wind Mortar
I had these guys converted for a while now, but never painted them. The front model is an old metal Plague Monk, the loader is a Poison Wind Globadier, and the mortar itself is a plastic Imperial Guard mortar.
I'm getting back into the Skaven painting mood after a long burnt-out break. Next up, I'm hoping to strip an old Verminlord to paint this weekend.

Another unit, and thoughts
I've been painting into the night, and I finished my Fenrisian Wolf unit. This means I'm caught up on my 2010 painting resolution, with plenty of time before next month. Maybe next weekend I can start another unit of Troops of two to begin fielding more of a fully painted army. I only need to leave 1 Troop for the upcoming month that requires them for my resolution.
I played two games today with my 2000 point Wolf Lord list. Similar to the list I have been playing for a few games now, also running with 4 Grey Hunter squads. First game I forgot to assault with my WL, and he got shot up by the Tau. I still demolished the Tau pretty soundly, but some unlucky game end rolls prolonged the game and my opponent had the time to contest and end in a Draw in Capture and Control.
My second game really gave a glimmer of hope for future use of the Thunder Wolf WL. I played an Annihilation game against Dark Angels and tabled them. The Wolf Lord did seriously well. His performance in the game is making me rethink wanting to get some Thunder Wolf Cavalry asap. These are the models I am thinking about getting now. The Mr Dandy models are just too big I think. These ones are sold on EBay (not my models):
The list played well. In the first game the 4 Troops choices (10 man squads) really game me the ability to win the game, though I couldn't capitalize. The second game the Long Fangs were excellent, the Lone Wolf did well, and the WL made me think there still is a place for him in my list.
Good gaming for a Saturday at the GW store.

Wolf Scouts emerge!
I finally finished the unit I should have painted in March for my painting resolution. I'm glad I did, because I really like how they turned out and they are a unit I generally include in my army list.
I like to always Outflank my Wolf Scouts with Behind Enemy Lines. They are great for getting at those deep enemy line units, like Devastators, tanks who are launching long range fire, and other units the enemy is "hiding" far away from you. I usually attach a Wolf Guard who has a power fist and combi melta equipped. I don't run too many combi weapons, but this is one unit that I HAVE to run one.
So here they are, and I am one unit closer to catching up to my failed resolutions.

June's done already?
I finished my June painting resolution in 2 days! Good. That gives me plenty of time to work on other units in the army... units I failed to do in March and April. So here is June's Lone Wolf, one of my favorite models to include in my army list. Plans for the rest of the month are an Elite and Fast Attack choice to catch up, probably 5 Wolf Scouts and 10 Fenrisian Wolves.

Long Fangs
My Long Fangs are finished, at least tabletop quality. I say tabletop quality and not finished, because I am not happy with them by any means. I have a lot of detail work, maybe some highlighting, some dry brushing, and another wash on the metal. BUT they are done enough to base them and finish my May resolution... the most important part. Now to get ready for June, and hopefully find the time to go back and complete the months I missed: March and April.
In battle report news, I had another game against Warboss Gargunki's Orks. I changed up my list to play with a Wolf Lord on a Thunderwolf, 4 squads of Grey Hunters in Rhinos, and 2 full squads of Long Fangs with missile launchers and a few other odds and ends. The 4 Squads of Grey Hunters was great. They really are an excellent Troop choice. The Wolf Lord was sub-par. Maybe I don't know how to use him, maybe I need to support him much better. It was Dawn of War so he was very isolated and got killed quickly trying to get into combat, so at the very least I need more practice with his tactics. And the Long Fangs were great. Missile Launchers... 12 missiles per turn because I had a Wolf Guard with a Cyclone Missile Launcher.

Rune Priest
Here is the Rune Priest I made from the Wolf Guard Terminator boxed set, finished up. I am still waiting for my resin bases to arrive from Dragon Forge, but when they do I will have him finished and entered as my first month in the 40k Fight Club 2010 Painting Resolution.

Hell Pit Abomination!
My army is finished! Here is a tease, because while finished I still need to add static grass to everything and a little bit of highlighting on the basing...
And here is a preview shot of the bases I just painted on all the remaining rats I had left. Now I am DONE, and like I just said just need some highlighting and static grass. I also need to paint a few more movement trays and find an army tray / display all for Sunday.

Painted Doom Wheel
I spent the rest of the day/night finishing the Doom Wheel. These two miniatures needed to be painted in separate components, so I had to finish them both this weekend to play on Tuesday. This is the first time I have ever really painted something in components like this and assembled them after. This is also the first time that I can remember that I have painted from about 12pm to 12am. It all worked out in the end to make two great looking, decently painted, characterful pieces that I am looking forward to playing with

Complete Plague Furnace
Done! This is how I spent my Saturday. Not watching college football, and not watching UFC. I painted my Plague Furnace. About 7 hours later (I assembled it last night following the tutorial on GW's website), here it is. Now I'm about to start my Doom Wheel!

Painted Skaven Slaves
I finished the basing on my next To4G period 1 unit: my first unit of Skaven Slaves. I'm interested to hear what everyone thinks of the color scheme. I wanted to be different than the "typical" GW Skaven color scheme with red cloth/robes, and base my army color as green. Snot Green in particular as the cloth colors. The slave fur color is Vermin Brown, te Clan Rat fur color will be Scorched Brown, and the Storm Vermin and Warlord fur color will be Chardon Granite. The Storm Vermin and Warlord will also have Catachan Green robes, different from the rest of the army.
So now I have my 20 Plague Monks, 10 Plague Censer Bearers, Plague Priest, and 20 Skaven Slaves done. 2 units of 20 Clan Rats left to paint before December 1st to be completed on time.Tale of 4 Gamers is a great motivator to start a new army and actually paint it.
Also, here is a picture of the Warlord mounted on the War-litter as he will look inside of the Storm Vermin unit. The Storm Vermin might be painted as early as the next To4G period, but the Warlord will be a 4th period addition if he is aded at all (rather than a Grey Seer on a Screaming Bell).
And in worse news, Doom Wheels are out of stock! They are apparently on back order to GW, so I'll be waiting a little while to pick one up.

Clan Pestilens update
With the Skaven army book and new miniatures only 2 days away, I am finishing up the first units for the Tale of 4 Gamers league. I'm still going to need another 60 rats for my first period army, but here is the "elite" half of the army fully painted, minus one standard bearer.
