Hobby update

If you've been following me on Twitter, you'll know I have been busy with the hobby, and not with my Skaven. Well I still have another 40 Skavenslaves to paint for Adepticon, but I have been spending a lot of time putting my new Ogre army together! Here is the basic list I have together that I played my first game with this weekend.

Slaughtermaster
Firebelly
Bruiser BSB
8 Ironguts
6 Ogres
1 Sabertusk
1 Sabertusk
1 Sabertusk
4 Mournfang Cavalry
4 Mournfang Cavalry
4 Mournfang Cavalry
Ironblaster

It's the list that has been floating around the internet, but I love the idea of mass Mournfang Cavalry... and not so much the idea of the monsters. I also love the idea of a LOW model count army.

I have everything assembled, and I am looking forward to getting to work on it very soon, as soon as those pesky Slaves are painted! Maybe I will even have them done in time for Blood in the Sun!

Speaking of Ogre Kingdoms, my next GLWL is against the Ogres this Thursday. Until then, take a look at my converted Slaughtermaster. He is supposed to be wearing Glittering Scales and has the Fencer's Blades, so I wanted him modeled appropriately.

  1. I love that you are doing Ogres, man, mostly because I am sure I can learn a few things and also because you are not super local (like a third of our locals picked up Ogres, lol). The fatties are a ton of fun and why wouldn't people love mournfangs, they are great models, great units and the idea of these giant fat guys riding dangerous bear cats is an awesome idea.

Have you gotten any games in, I haven't busted out the singletusk as redirecters, I have just ganged them up as single units to beat on wimpy cannon crew and such.

  2. I have played 1 game online and 1 game up at Gamers Sanctuary against the guy who won the last tournament there with Lizardmen. The single redirectors were a threat to his support units, let alone being redirectors. They still have the power to hunt small skirmishing units and war machines on their own, and are excellent march blockers (especially on the flanks where the fast units can't use the Inspiring Presence).

I ran his Slaan off the board in the first game with Mournfang (he fled a flank charge, through a building, then got charged off the board with Gnoblars) so we reset and fought it out. The Mournfang do SICK damage. I took a unit of 40 Saurus down to 15 or so in 1 round of a double charge.
