Planetstrike Terrain Project

I finally got some pictures of the terrain I've been building, painting, and using for the Planetstrike League. The minimum for the league is 1 Bastion and 1 Aegis Defense Line of your own for each game, in addition of the plethora of club terrain found at Pandemonium. So far many people have brought their own terrain, and combined with the club and store terrain have put together some great looking battlefields (see previous Planetstrike posts).

First up are my finished bastions. I have 2 bastions and 4 aegis defense lines fully painted, which also gives me 4 autocannon interceptor guns, and 2 lascannon interceptor guns.

I've also been using some craters I bought at Pandemonium, and the Games Workshop Blast Scape set of vac-form terrain. I went to Home Depot and bought some hard board and stenciled on the outlines of the terrain pieces. I then cut them out and mounted the terrain to the hard board with epoxy. The plan is to base the edges, and then prime and paint in a similar scheme as my Ultramarine's bases. So far it has worked great, and while they are more bulky to transport, they are a much higher quality to use on the tabletop.

Also, I changed the name of the blog! Since it has become more of a hobby blog than an Ultramarines WIP diary, I've renamed the blog 'Rhellion's Tabletop' from the former name '4th Company'. It also helps that I found another blog already named 4th Company. I didn't want to rain on his parade. Haha.

More Furnace / Bell pics

New pics posted over at Warseer!

I really am in love with this model. I'm sure I will be getting one of each, then using the other pieces for conversions. Probably use the Rat Ogre as a mount for another character somehow, and the other Plague Monk models as foot troops of some sort.

And wow, the sprues look great. I can't wait for this thing to be released.

3 weeks until Skaven...

...and my "Army other than Clan Rats" is coming together well. Thanks to a very generous Fight Club member, I grabbed a bag of OOP metal Skaven at League Night this Tuesday. I plan on buying a few more used models this week to hopefully have a 1000 point army at least when the Army Book and Clan Rats come out. So far this is what I'm planning on having (need to still get the *).

Chieftain / Warlord*
Plague Priest
Warlock Engineer

20 Clan Rats*
20 Clan Rats*
20 Slaves*

25 Plague Monks
7 Plague Censer Bearers
5 Poison Wind Globadiers or 5 Jezzails

Warp-lightning Cannon* or Doomwheel*

I don't know what points that will be. I plan on getting 3 boxes of Clan Rats and the army book. If I don't get it, the next purchase after that will be the Doomwheel along with more Clan Rats. And when the Bell/Furnace box comes out the month after, I will add my first Plague Furnace.

And because I never like to leave a blog without something to look at, here are some pics of the new Doomwheel assembled and unpainted. Originally posted by bigred at Bell of Lost Souls

Plague Furnace / Screaming Bell

Here are some more new pics of the new Plague Furnance and Screaming Bell kit. The same kit also builds the Plague Catapult. 3 amazing models in one box, meaning there should be lots of left over bits!

I'm thinking of getting all 3, but I will most likely get one to build as a Screaming Bell first.

League Night

It is league night at Pandemonium, and it was Planetstrike again. I played my game against the Orks... and got demolished. So now I am 3-2 and falling in the standings. I'd like to say I had a good time, but I'd be lying! Haha. Jon did an excellent job on the very first turn using the Escape Hatch with a full squad of 30 Boyz disembarking from the center Bastion, able to get FOUR units in combat, destroying an Attack Bike Squad, Scout Bike Squad, Ironclad Dreadnought, and stunning a Predator! OUCH. At the end of turn 6 I got tabled.

Oh well. Here are some pics of the fun tonight. I was able to get shots of 3 Planetstrike League games, and 2 pickup games.

Planetstrike League Update

40K Fight Club's Ordo Fraternitas Chapter Planetstrike League wrapped up its second period (each period is 2 games). Here is how the standings look (below). So far I am 2-0 against Daemons, and 1-1 against Eldar, leaving me tied with the pack in second. I'm hoping to get some painted stratagem bonus points again this week, so if we all push again I can get an edge. More than likely though, there will be a more definitive separation in standings after this periods mission: Seize and Destroy. Third period games start tomorrow, and my games are against Orks!

Standings

1st Space Marines 36
2nd Chaos Space Marines 34
2nd Imperial Guard 34
2nd Orks 34
2nd Space Marines 34 (4th Company!)
2nd Eldar 34
7th Tau 26
7th Necrons 26
7th Necrons 26
10th Space Marines 15
11th Daemons 14
11th Tau 14
13th Chaos Space Marines 2 (Dropped Out)
13th Blood Angels 2 (Dropped Out)

Point structure: 11 points for a win, 6 points for a draw, 1 point for a loss, 1 bonus point for unique (only counted for points once) painted objectives in both games of 1 period, 1 bonus point for fully painted army in both games of 1 period.

First wave of the Skaven horde.

When I was at Pandemonium for my Planetstrike game this weekend, I sifted through the used bin for some Skaven. I decided to stay away from any old Clan Rats because the new models are just that nice. I ended up with a unit of 20 Plague Monks, 5 Plague Censer Bearers, a Plague Lord, and a Warlock Engineer. All for under $50.

Score.

I also got to take a look at the Black Box and the Skaven army book, and it's got me pretty excited. I'm going to grab a couple of boxes of new Clan Rats when they are released, and see how my army adds up. After that I will build from there! The new Screaming Bell kit is excellent.
